Air Liquide launches its new “Gas Encyclopedia” app

  • Air Liquide

This app allows users to quickly access a host of information on the physical and chemical properties of 64 gas molecules (oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, etc.) in their solid, liquid and gaseous states. The Encyclopedia also indicates the material compatibilities of various gases and describes their main industrial applications. The content is produced by Air Liquide experts.

A key resource for the scientific community, researchers, students and teachers, it is also designed for Air Liquide customers and general public.

The Gas Encyclopedia for iPad offers numerous features: a molecular comparison tool for lab work, search filters, an equivalence converter and a 3D molecule viewer. It is available in French and English; the Encyclopedia app for Android will be released in June of this year.

The internet version of the Encyclopedia (encyclopedia.airliquide.com) is already a big hit with users: 1.4 million visits in 2012.

“The ability to adapt to new mobile uses, showcase our scientific and technical expertise, contribute to information sharing among academics, educators and our customers, reach a wide audience - these are the challenges we are meeting with success,” explains Olivier Delabroy, Vice President R&D for the Air Liquide Group. “They are also the reasons we have opted to make access to this resource free of charge.”
