Helium Liquefaction

The HELIAL range offers standard helium liquefiers

The HELIAL range offers standard helium liquefiers providing cold power at 4.5 K. To reach this temperature, the HELIAL uses helium, the coldest gas in its liquid state. The coldness is for example essential to test satellites in interstellar vacuum conditions.

Easy to use, HELIALs can be integrated into a complete liquefaction system, from helium recovery to its storage in liquid form. Note: While all liquefiers are equipped with static gas bearing turbines, lubricated screw compressors, and heat exchangers, each is tailored to the customer and the application.

Key benefits

  • High reliability ǀ thanks to the control of the entire design/manufacturing chain by dedicated and highly involved project teams
  • Ease of use ǀ with its user-friendly interface with touch screen control, automatic operation driven by a control system, and remote access via modem / internet
  • Reduced maintenance ǀ thanks to a self-diagnosis system allowing to anticipate breakdowns
  • A controlled operating cost ǀ with a reduced consumption of utilities (compressed air, nitrogen, water, electricity), and a compact system easily integrated into existing infrastructures
  • Compliance with standards ǀ ASME Stamp U (USA) - HPGSL (Japan) - AQSIQ (China) - CE / ASME marking without stamp

Each HELIAL has integrated oil removal and cycle pressure management functions. It includes nitrogen pre-cooling. The air or water cooled compressor is automatically managed, as well as the system's cool down and nominal operation of the liquefier and its shutdown. The cold box integrates the control system with a touch screen and an electrical cabinet.

Key figures

About the static gas bearing turbines:

  • 300,000 revolutions per minute in rotational speed
  • 150,000 hours: a record mean time between failures (MTBF)
